Are witches, readers, astrologists, and such serving God?

This is a very serious question, especially in today's world. It requires a detailed answer to explain something about The Lord and the corrupt nature of His most precious creatures, man. Since Eve, people have always looked for short-cuts and ways to gain advantage. Man looks for the easiest ways to secure things for himself and have a care-free life, even at the expense of his fellow man. This is the way of human nature, the flesh.

As long as man walks in his nature, there will be a demand to satisfy his greed and selfishness. This demand causes other fleshly creatures to come forth offering to fill the individual's desires for spiritual knowledge and good feelings, and happiness. Man does not change; Satan does not change, and God does not change. "The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun." (Ecclesiastes 1:9)

"For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones." (Isaiah 57:15) Only The Lord God Almighty knows all the future. Only He is omniscience, all knowing. The Lord dwells with His Son and offers to revive the spirit of the humble. God is telling us that He loves His creation, is very jealous for their attention, and is willing to help each one who will come to Him. "For the LORD thy God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God." (Deuteronomy 4:24)

"There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer." (Deuteronomy 18:10-11) "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28) "Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need." (Hebrews 4:16) God is very clear that He does not want us to seek spiritual knowledge from any one except Him. His righteous commandment is severe against those who would try to take His position. "Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live." (Exodus 22:18)

God is displeased with those who try to take His place in our lives. He is also displeased with those who seek a witch, soothsayer, astrologist, or other ones that would deal falsely spiritual areas. Here is what Saul did, and he ended up committing suicide. "Then said Saul unto his servants, Seek me a woman that hath a familiar spirit, that I may go to her, and enquire of her. And his servants said to him, Behold, there is a woman that hath a familiar spirit at Endor." (1 Samuel 28:7) "Then said Saul unto his armourbearer, Draw thy sword, and thrust me through therewith; lest these uncircumcised come and thrust me through, and abuse me. But his armourbearer would not; for he was sore afraid. Therefore Saul took a sword, and fell upon it." (1 Samuel 31:4)

If you must seek spiritual guidance from any one that God has said not to, ask them this one simple question, right up front. In whose name do you speak? If the person says God, you then know they are lying. If they say any other name (a false god), you know that you are in real bad trouble. Either way, you will ultimately lose. Remember, what God said "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28)
