The Author
Born in Oklahoma, I was the eldest child in
a migrant family. My father's work caused us to crisscross Oklahoma,
travel to California, and move on to Brazil, South America. At fourteen,
we finally settled in Tennessee. There, I finished high school and then
joined the Army. After three years, two in Europe, I returned home and
earned a degree in Engineering.
The next eleven years were spent working in
light construction, safety, and supervision. I only worked the jobs for
a paycheck, not to serve or please anyone.
By this time, my life was a mess. Searching for
answers, I had tried multiple things, including a family. Still,
fulfillment eluded me. My recurring thought was, "Is this all there
is to life?"
In the depths of depression, at 2 p.m. on July
16, 1983, Jesus Christ, The Son of God, saved me. You can read about my changed life in
the Introduction. Now, my life's work is serving Jesus Christ, while I
serve my fellow man.
The Lord God is always faithful to show me the work He requires
and the way He wants me to do it. I have worked in other companies since my Lord
saved me. I have found jobs, held them, and left them: both planned and unplanned.
I have known times of showers and times of drought. I have experienced the blessings
of income and the sadness of want. I have worked with laborers and developed
strategies with presidents. I have seen the hand of The Lord God in the workplace.
